Agent Skills Foundations, Best Practices, and a Hands-On Workshop

Agent skills are quickly becoming one of the most practical ways to give AI agents new capabilities, domain expertise, and repeatable workflows.

In this presentation, you’ll get a clear introduction to what agent skills are, how they work, and why they matter for non-developers, product thinkers, and anyone building with AI. We’ll walk through the core concepts behind skill design, including metadata, progressive disclosure, folder structure, discovery, integration, and best practices, so you leave with a strong foundation for understanding how skills help make AI more useful, focused, and reliable.

In the hands-on workshop, attendees will put these ideas into practice by using Claude AI (or other tools that support skills) to create their own agent skill from scratch. Together, we’ll take a simple workflow, turn it into a skill idea, structure it properly, write the SKILL.md file, and talk through how to keep the skill focused, composable, and usable in real-world scenarios.

Participants will leave not just understanding agent skills conceptually, but with practical experience creating one themselves and a repeatable process they can use to build more on their own.
